Fed Holds Rates Steady, Reiterates Call for More Stimulus

The Federal Reserve has announced that it will keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged, as officials again pushed Congress for further economic relief. So reports NBC News.

After the Fed’s two-day police meeting, chairman Jerome Powell lauded legislators for their earlier fiscal response to the coronavirus pandemic but emphasized that more support would probably be needed.

Market observers noted that the Fed has only limited monetary policy tools remaining to boost the economy, while optimism for a breakthrough on Capitol Hill was dimming as lawmakers dug in on their positions.
