FHFA Nomination Stalled by Partisan Walkout

A boycott by Republican members of the Senate Banking Committee has held up the nomination of Sandra Thompson to lead the Federal Housing Finance Agency. So reports Roll Call.

republicans 303843 640.jpegThe panel’s 12 Democrats voted to confirm Thompson and five Federal Reserve nominees (though Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., requested to be marked down as a “no” on Fed Chair Jerome Powell), but Republicans’ absence from the committee vote meant there wasn’t a quorum.

The committee’s ranking Republican, Sen. Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania, had said that his fellow GOP members would show up for the vote on five of the nominees if Sarah Bloom Raskin, tapped as Federal Reserve vice chair for supervision, was excluded.
