HUD, DOJ Move to Clarify False Claims Act for Lenders

The Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Justice have unveiled a joint memorandum of understanding outlining how the agencies plan to enforce alleged violations of the False Claims Act.

The move aims “to provide clarity and certainty to Federal Housing Administration-approved lenders,” according to a press release.

As Politico reports, banks and consumer advocates alike have urged the two departments to clear up how they would be addressing violations of the False Claims Act.
