Mortgage Rates Dip for Second Straight Week, to Below 6.5%

U.S. long-term mortgage rates have posted a second consecutive weekly decline, adding to a flurry of optimistic data for homebuyers. So reports the Associated Press.

arrow down icon 157360 1280According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.42% in the week ending March 23, versus 6.42% a week earlier and 4.42% a year earlier.

The National Association of Realtors recently said that the national median home price edged down 0.2% in February on a year-over-year basis, for the first annual drop in 13 years.
