Mortgage Rates Slip After Six Straight Weeks of Gains

U.S. long-term mortgage rates have declined for the first time in seven weeks but remain at levels unseen since before the 2008 financial crisis. So reports the Associated Press.

arrow 31187 1280 237x300According to Freddie Mac, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.66% in the week ending October 6, down four basis points from the previous week but still more than twice the year-ago figure of 2.99%.

The 15-year averaged 5.9%, down six basis points from the week before.
