Real Estate Investor Sentenced to Prison Over HELOC Scam

A New Jersey federal judge has sentenced a real estate investor to two years in prison over a scheme that involved obtaining multiple home equity lines of credit on properties he owned, according to authorities. So reports NJBiz.

prison 553836 640smallAnthony Garvin of Jersey City, N.J., previously pleaded guilty to four counts of bank fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

“Garvin’s scheme ultimately resulted in over $400,000 in losses to the lenders,” Federal prosecutors said in a statement.
