Fannie Mae Posts $4B Net Income in Q3

Fannie Mae recorded a net income of $4.0 billion in the third quarter of 2019, up from $2.9 billion in the prior quarter, the mortgage finance giant has announced.

In a press release, the government-sponsored enterprise said the rise was “driven primarily by increases in credit-related income and net revenues, partially offset by a decrease in investment gains during the quarter.”

The Trump administration’s proposal for overhauling the U.S. housing market, unveiled in September, would allow GSEs to keep more of their earnings.
